Frequently asked questions

Will the controller work with my POPP enclosure?
The POPP-POOL Controller is developed and tested for motorized POPP enclosures with BLE control unit (e.g. Prestige P8). It communicates directly with the original POPP control unit via Bluetooth Low Energy.

Do I need programming skills?
No. In the complete set, the ESP32 is already flashed and ready to use. You only need to set up Wi-Fi and pair the POPP address once — everything is done through the web interface, with no terminal and no code.

Will my original POPP app still work afterwards?
Yes, fully. The controller runs in parallel and accesses the POPP control unit just like the original app. You can use both at the same time.

Which smart home systems are supported?
Via MQTT, all common systems are supported: ioBroker, Home Assistant, Node-RED, OpenHAB, FHEM and any system with MQTT support. In addition, a full REST HTTP API is available for custom integrations.

Are there any ongoing costs or subscriptions?
No. One-time payment — no cloud, no subscription, no monthly fees. Firmware updates are included and can be installed anytime via OTA (Over-the-Air) directly in the browser.

How long does the setup take?
With the complete set, about 10–15 minutes: initial Wi-Fi setup via captive portal (2 min), POPP pairing via scan (3 min), optional MQTT setup (5–10 min). No programming or soldering required.
